At Kurtosys, we’re used to helping financial organisations build websites, create mobile apps or set up online communities with Q&A functionality, but it’s not so often that we press these skills into service to promote a rugby match…
We’ve been pretty busy lately developing our new online forum building service, Sponge, launching our new interactive web tools service, Kurtosys Tools and working on an exciting new partnership with Morningstar, but inbetween we’ve found time to help out a very good cause, Help for Heroes.
The Heroes Rugby Challenge Match which will take place at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 3 December 2011 will mark the 10th Anniversary of Britain’s Armed Forces Operations in Afghanistan.
The match, which will see a strong Northern Hemisphere XV, managed by Rugby World Cup winners Lawrence Dallaglio and Jason Leonard, and Welsh legend Ieuan Evans, will take on a Southern Hemisphere team with has Michael Lynagh and Sean Fitzpatrick at the helm.
The target is to pack out Twickenham and raise over £1 million for Help for Heroes – the charity which provides practical support for our wounded service men and women. The proceeds will help fund the H4H Tedworth House facility which is a state of the art, ‘one-stop shop’ recovery centre for those wounded in service.
Working closely with our client JP Morgan who are the lead sponsor of the Heroes Rugby match, we’ve donated our web design and implementation skills to build the event website using WordPress and set up a special Sponge Q&A community to answer questions about the event. We’d like to thank the team at Automattic for offering their VIP services to host the site.
Getting involved in the wider community is really important to everyone at Kurtosys and so whether it’s our team out in Gurgaon, India, helping to teach English to local schoolchildren as part of the Literacy India, or using the skills learnt in our day jobs to promote the Heroes Rugby Match we’re pleased to be giving something back.
